I had zero expectations about this book. It was short and easily accessible through Libby, so I said, "Hey, what the hell? Let's see what I think." And of course, it's February. Love is in the air.

Not my first sci-fi romance with alien sex in it. This one feels relatively normal in terms of anatomical differences unlike, say, Anne Aguirre's Strange Love - which I also really liked. Audiobook was interesting, I definitely laughed in the car at the sudden-ness of the first sex scene. It was funny and cheesy.. and totally self-aware of the ridiculousness. I enjoyed that the alien abduction of women and then mating tropes were mixed up a bit. It wasn't just an alpha male, 'I'm claiming you and you don't have a choice' type story. There's enough of those out there if that's your thing, no judgement here.

Really important to check out the content warnings for this. I have mixed feelings about what happened on the ship. Was it necessary? Idk. How do I feel about what happened to that character?
Not great. It feels pretty convenient to have Dominique killed off.. because she likely would have had a more complicated reaction to being rescued why a bunch of blue alien dudes who just wanna resonate with her.
