this was a disturbing read, but really powerful. Yeong-Hye’s story is told by anyone but herself, which is unfortunately the whole point, since she never had any control over her life. that was until she became a vegetarian. but even then, the abuse was endless. it was an excellent read, even tho it was a bit hard to understand at times, since english isn’t my first language, and i think this novel is a complicated reading in general. there were a lot of metaphor, and i’m not sure i got them all, but the author did an exceptional writing job for sure.
