❤️ Coming of age

💛 Family (and chosen family)

Noor and Salahudin have been best friends since they were young. They understand each other's culture (the minority in their area), and both are plagued with negligent caregivers. Noor feels indebted to her uncle, who saved her from an earthquake in Pakistan that killed both of her parents. Salahudin is dealing with the death of his mother, an alcoholic father, and trying to save his late mother's hotel. This YA nov made my heart hurt by how much these characters had to endure. I really enjoyed it, and I think fans of Aristotle & Dante would enjoy this, too. Please see trigger warnings before reading.
