This book honestly felt like YA, but then went from 0-100 with x rated smut. While I like smut, it kind of felt out of place. I feel like there wasn’t a lot of character development. Slone had issues from her childhood that made her into the person she is in the present, but there wasn’t really any insight to it. I think it was just a few paragraphs in one chapter that explained how she became the Orb Weaver. The character development she did have was based on the love Rowan had for her (which at times was cringy and very adolescent-like). I had high expectations for this book and sadly it just fell flat. I know there are two more books after this one in the series, but this book took me forever to finish and I’m not sure if I want to go into the rest of the series the same.
