Lab Girl
by Hope Jahren
This book was everything I wanted in a memoir of female scientist. It acknowledged the gritty, harsh realities of academia without making excuses for them or pretending they were normal and ok (see my review of the DNA of you and me for a more disappointing example). Hope Jahren wove scientific facts into a narrative that spoke to my scientific soul. Definitely a must read for those traversing life in the biological research world. (Or anyone who wishes to know what it's like).
