mexscrabbler 's review for:
The Last Human
by Zack Jordan
I read this science fiction book during a two week vacation. It is very innovative and thought-provoking. It deals with a dystopian (?) future where the human race has been excluded from the league of universal beings (the "Network") for being too aggressive and non-conforming. Apparently the human race was instigated by a malevolent species to use technology which they were not ready for, and - true to form - the humans did not use it wisely.
The main protagonist is a lone human who has been adopted by an arachnid species, and is living incognito amongst other members of the Network (humans are not allowed). The human embarks on a quest to reconnect with the remnants of its race, which have survived in a small corner of space, disconnected from the Network.
The novel raises important topics of free choice vs. community.
It was quite enjoyable.
