The first volume of this manga was extremely disturbing. There are multiple parts that genuinely shocking and difficult to read through. However, at the same time the world building intrigued me and the desire to know what happens next kept me going. It made me feel like some of those well crafted films with a painful plot like Seven or Old Boy: the characters go through horrible stuff but somehow you're unable to move your gaze away. Finally, I must admit that I am already halfway through Volume 2, and that volume shows to me that the author wants to do more than just shock. It feels like this is more an investigation of feelings, of suffering and of horror, but also about joy, life and hope. Let's see where this goes, even if it ends up going nowhere it's only 8 volumes in total.
