I currently have a 15 year old son, and I could relate so much to this story of a mother Jen who watches her son murder a man in front of her house as he arrives home one night. As a lawyer, she has dealt with all kinds of crazy situations and is determined to help her son. The next morning she wakes up and it’s the day before, and she begins to realize, she didn’t know her son as well as she thought… so many things she didn’t notice. Each day, she wakes up further and further into the past, discovering the truth of what happened.

The love Jen has for her son and her family, and yet the busyness of life - rang so true to me. I went back to work when my son was in 5th grade and I have had these moments of it not being the same, and missing moments. This is a book that makes you want to be more present and notice those you love.

This is an interesting article about themes in her books of parenthood, trust, commitment, marriage, children
