Into the Woods by J. Torres

4.0

Bigfoot is so hot.

Srsly.

I took this out to the elementary schools as part of my summer reading lineup this year, and those chillens got SUPER excited when I just barely STARTED talking about a strange creature covered in fur which may or may not live in the woods. It's kind of amazing to me, actually, that there aren't more upper elementary chapter books or comic books about this awesome cryptozoological phenom.

This is an awesome fictional full color comic book starting the adventures of a kid who finds a thing which may or may not give him a Bigfoot-related supernatural quality, and makes friends with a talking squirrel. Oh yeah, and the girl next door. It barely even sets the world up, so I'm SUPER excited that the series will have at least one more book soon.

Hicks illustration work is spot-on as always and it seems that she did her own totally great color work. Thanks to Kids Can press for giving it a nice hardback cover - the copies at my library are already getting a work-out!
