This wasn’t what I was hoping for, to be honest. The writing was very detached, mostly tell-y with very little show. I couldn’t connect to our main character or really care about the plot, as there wasn’t a lot of depth and it moved too fast.
The world in this, as well as the different peoples and cultures, was very interesting, though it was largely unexplained and unexplored. I see where the writer was trying to go with this novella, but this one didn’t really work for me. It’s not bad, and it’s a different story that I can imagine many others would enjoy.
