Y'all can't imagine how happy I am I'm finally done with this book, this was SO BORING, if it weren't for the fact I read it for a uni project, I'd never ever finish it. At first the story seemed quite promising, the idea reminded me a lot of "the man called Ove" but its realisation was 10x worse, in most of the book literally nothing happened, I had the impression that the author tried super hard to make the story longer at all costs. In my opinion, half of it was useless and added nothing to the novel. It was full of "deep", philosophical thoughts, however, instead of diving deeper into any of them, the author just moved from one topic to another, which led to the impression of the book being about everything and nothing at the same time. On the other hand, the treatment of some problems (most of all the discrimination of minorities) was really promising and I don't understand why the author couldn't just develop this thread and leave all the other meaningless stuff. Honestly it seemed like trying too hard to sound extra smart and wasting the potential this novel had. I'm especially confused because the writing style looks pretty advanced, the language use is beautiful but not overly complicated, which suggests that the writer must be quite experienced. I won't say I'm disappointed because I didn't have high hopes (idk why but I hate all the spiegel bestsellers i read, probably I'm just not the right reader). Не рекомендую

How time to FINALLY get back to Dostoevsky....🥹 I've never been happier in my life
