It’s a suspenseful and hauntingly beautiful reflection of sisterhood, feminism, and the rejection of the patriarchy set in France during the 1800s. With elements of mystery and the supernatural it creates a dramatic scenario that entices the reader and sucks them into reading chapter to chapter. Not wanting to miss anything. The pace of the novel flows amazingly and contributed to the hauntingly disturbing atmosphere of a women's sanitarium.
