This was such an enjoyable book. It's part prequel, part reimagining of Disney's Mulan. There's elements of Chinese folktales and legends (I think, I'm not familiar with them to say for sure), and there are moments of foreshadowing of the Mulan movie that just tickle me because I love the animated version. I loved how seemingly different parts of the book all came together and make an interconnected story. This was a fun one for me.
