The Great Passage by Shion Miura

4.0

I got this for free through the Kindle First program. It was a very easy read about a small department of a publishing company that works on dictionaries. The department is starting work on a brand new dictionary called "The Great Passage". While it may sound boring, the parts detailing the work they do on dictionaries and how they choose words was actually fascinating. They also go into detail about how to make a dictionary, including the phrasing of definitions, the layout, and the type of paper used. I was surprised that I found all of this interesting. Words are so important and this book is all about proving that. It was told from the viewpoint of several different workers in the department, all who learn different lessons while working on "The Great Passage". Most of the characters were so passionate about their work and the dictionary they were creating which is always nice to read about. I recommend this to anyone who loves words and what affects they can have on people.
