Look Closer by David Ellis

5.0

5 stars

Superbly paced, Look Closer isn't outrageously twisty, but it's an expertly crafted slowburn with a consistent flow of engaging reveals, ultimately ringing true to its title—pay attention to all the little details because they're all relevant!

Told through multiple POVs, which are all equally enjoyable, and pivotal to the book's plot and character-building (a rarity, since in this type of storytelling, there always seems to be a filler POV or two, serving the sole purpose to misdirect). David Ellis' writing is not showy or sensational, but confident and packed with factual details, leaving me convinced after the truth is exposed, that the underlying logic is solid and plausible. It also does a great job shifting my perspective regarding certain characters, from feeling extremely antagonistic towards them to ultimately rooting for their success.

I can totally see David Fincher adapting this!
