I read this book because I have an obsession with novels that are about writing a novel, or maybe even just really into meta content period - if I'm honest.
Something about this piece just fell flat or didn't resonate with me, and after some reflection I realise it was the two leads. The writing was lovely, story great, the book within a book feel was en pointe as usual. But I had a really hard time caring about the two main characters, and their conflict and dynamic felt like something I wanted to rush through to get back to every other part of the book.
This doesn't happen to me often I find, and I'm not sure why it did here, but there you have it.
