Okay, this book took me a while to get into. Leigh for me in the past was an instant buy. Following 9th House and Hell Bent, I thought "no matter what it is, it'll be good!"

This is a much different book. It's a romance at it's core, but it's very highbrow for lack of better phrasing. The first 3rd has some really wild perspective changes that are pretty hard to wade through (at least imo) but after that it kinda stopped doing that.

As for the story, it has some really cool magic elements and loveable characters! I think at it's core this is a great story, just not as executed as well as it should have been.

Overall, maybe I'm just dumb or maybe it's because I just came out of a lot of ACOTOR reading but this is definitely a book I'd want to circle back to later. But I'm mad at the score I'm giving it because I wanted to love this book so much
