artemis fowl more like artemis foul this was not good 

weir, i really wanted to like this. the martian was great! but perhaps the your image of mark watney as a wisecracking genius completely isolated from the rest of the world is wish fulfillment of the former and self-reflection in the latter, bc holy fuck you need to be so isolated to write a woman mc this badly? i am 80 pages in. i am already fed up with jazz’s constant mentions of sex and repetitive shitty jokes. and having her wear a niqab and narrate hey it’s a perfect mask for crime reads really weirdly when you are a white man and there are? very harmful stereotypes similar to this irl?? 

“ I giggled like a little girl. Hey, I’m a girl, so I’m allowed.” no woman thinks like this… man, i’m not angry just disappointed
