Did not finish book. Stopped at 17%.

I love stories about music, and I was really excited to read about a genderqueer character, but I can’t handle the forced, unnatural dialog and the consistent lecturing about social issues, etc. It’s not that I don’t agree with the author, I just think there’s a better way to write it besides literally preaching at me through a character’s mouth. I’m sure there’s other people who don’t mind, or will need that message in that way, but it’s a pet peeve and I personally can’t stand it, and it’s usually a dealbreaker for me.
