Beautifully written and heartbreaking. Parts of the book were difficult to read (both in context and in writing style) but overall it was engaging and moving. I enjoyed the length of this book and appreciated the insight into the character personality’s throughout.
The ending for willem bothered me immensely (as he was the most lovable character in the book) but I appreciated the way it displayed the unfairness of life and the unexpected nature of death. The ending for Jude himself fell inevitable and soul crushing but I appreciated the poetry within Harold’s speech
. Ultimately the book was emotional in a way I wasn’t expecting but was delighted by, it had been a long time since I was so dearly invested in ( and disgusted by) a book. I would gladly read any other works by this author and would recommend this book for anyone looking to cry away an evening. *please be sure to check the trigger warnings*
