Burned Dreams
by Neva Altaj
While I enjoyed this story; it wasn't my favorite. This is my 1st 4 star review in the series. I loved the premise but I feel that they were rushed. What I mean is Alessandro took the job of being Ravenna's bodyguard with the ultimate plan to k*ll her and destroy her husband Rocco who was responsible for his wife's death 8 years prior.
For a vast majority of the book we see Alessandro conflicted. He loathed Ravenna but h8ted himself for feeling unsure. As her bodyguard we read about how Alessandro followed Ravenna everywhere and how his resolve crumbled daily.
Ravenna was a victim of a forced marriage in an attempt to settle her brothers debt. Abused and humiliated daily, she was bidding her time until she could make a plan to escape.
The attraction between Alessandro and Ravenna was undeniable. Stolen glances, the one worded conversations etc. Then after a turn of events while her monster of a husband was in the hospital, Alessandro decided to teach Ravenna self defense then in the same training session they sleep together.
For some reason their coming together (pun intended) didn't feel as organic as the other couples throughout the series. Never the less this was still an enjoyable read. I mean we had appearances by Felix and Sergei which is always a good time anytime they are in the mix.
I'm looking forward to the next in the series since this one ended with Alessandro and Sergei reuniting over a mission to save one of their own. Two trained assassins/pyromaniacs on a rescue mission. What could possibly go wrong?
