Due to a deadline I listened to it, which isn't my preferred method of "reading," but the voice actor did a good job. I didn't like listening to the swears, rough language, and other mature topics, but tried to focus on the plot. The beginning dragged for me and if I'd had a physical book, I would've been able to skim to get to where the book picked up speed. At its core, this is a story about two emotionally damaged people who had a connection and have stumbled their way back into each other's lives. The descriptions of that damage is heartbreaking, and well done. I could feel their pain.
I tired of the main character's precocious daughter, though she moved the plot forward. I appreciated the descriptions of writer's block and definitions of author terms (HEA vs HFN).I like that this was an HDN and have hope that the two will turn out ok. While there were several passages with unrealistic speeches/monologs, there were also moments that brought me to tears.
