Due to a deadline I listened to it, which isn't my preferred method of "reading," but the voice actor did a good job. I didn't like listening to the swears, rough language, and other mature topics, but tried to focus on the plot. The beginning dragged for me and if I'd had a physical book, I would've been able to skim to get to where the book picked up speed. At its core, this is a story about two emotionally damaged people who had a connection and have stumbled their way back into each other's lives. The descriptions of that damage is heartbreaking, and well done. I could feel their pain.
I tired of the main character's precocious daughter, though she moved the plot forward. I appreciated the descriptions of writer's block and definitions of author terms (HEA vs HFN).
I like that this was an HDN and have hope that the two will turn out ok.
While there were several passages with unrealistic speeches/monologs, there were also moments that brought me to tears.
