Broken Harbour by Tana French
5.0

Blown away. Simply blown away. Tana French does what precious other writers can, and that is to truly delve into the enormously complex human psyche. Her handling of it masterful and it's because of that deep understanding I found myself glued to each and every word in the book. Interrogation and confession of suspects goes on for 20-30 pages and yet never once does it feel long or drawn out. The characters are amazingly drawn and fleshed out over time, which lends urgency to the murder case and brings it to an hammering end. The mystery itself is top notch and I realised that I was too shocked to even register the thrill one feels on reading a proper murder mystery.
Masterful. 5 stars.
