That's Not What Happened
by Kody Keplinger
I did really like this book, but it definitely had its pros and cons. I think overall it’s hard to tell a story about such a complicated and traumatic topic, because everyone experiences these types of things differently. I think the book made that evident. I think the main thing that made this book “good” instead of “great” was the constant back and forth between flashbacks and letters and current events. I get that it was part of the story, with Lee compiling everything, but it made the pacing feel weird at times.
Would I have chosen to buy the book if I was gifted an ARC? Probably not, but it was still a good read.
