The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee

slow-paced

1.0

Completely and utterly disappointing. A major waste of time.

There was an attempt. Keyword, attempt. Think Gossip Girl meets Sci-Fi. Seemingly promising but it falls flat. The prologue is intriguing but it's not intriguing enough to keep you wanting to read to find out. It's so flat. The dialogue, the characters, the worldbuilding. Just a bunch of high tech futuristic jargon thrown together to disguise unimaginative writing. Not to mention, INCEST. JUST WHY? Avery tries to justify their relationship throughout the book by saying Atlas was only adopted to ease her loneliness. Then they get to discussing plans for the future, them running away together but never being able to see *their parents. Atlas insists that Avery's parents are not his because he was already 7 y.o. when he was adopted. 7! IS! A! CHILD! He was raised into their family. They were raised together, in the same house. They continue to brush it off saying they aren't really real siblings because they aren't related by blood. ?????? I lost braincells reading this.

Only finished this because I wanted to see what the hype was about. Blegh. Safe to say will not be reading the rest of the series nor will I be indulging in any of her other works.
