I quite enjoyed the struggles of our main character and the insight into the treatment of mentally ill people back in the 50s/60s. At times, especially in the first half of the book, I was hoping for more in depth insights into her struggles and thoughts. Nevertheless I was drawn into the story and am glad I finally picked it up.
However, as a somewhat autobiographical book, the amount of rasict depictions in here made me struggle to continue a few times. It certainly won't become a book I will recommend to people.
