this was my second susan abulhawa book and it was so, so good. she does an amazing job at showing the impossibility of disconnecting the personal and political. palestinians can’t disconnect their experiences from the violence of israeli occupation, and every character in this book felt that differently. Nahr was such a robust character, and i loved seeing her through so many different stages of life.
