Shadowed Souls by Jim Butcher, Kerrie L. Hughes

Pretty entertaining collection of stories, with sort of a "the end justifies the means" theme. Some of the short stories are better than others, and only one or two really grabbed me. Most of them follow the theme of good people doing bad things for the greater good. Generally speaking, I disagree with that particular viewpoint. Too many people justify doing bad things that really don't do much for the greater good, even though occasionally it might be the right choice. Think country leaders with expansionist views grabbing territory and starting wars, or business leaders lining their own pockets or making decisions that are bad for most consumers and employees in the interests of stockholder value or market share. Nonetheless, it is thought-provoking to read stories that raise issues and questions about the idea.
