Set on You
by Amy Lea
Going into this book I was a little hesitant, as I find that a lot of romances that feature plus-size/mid-size main characters lack depth. But I was so happy to be wrong! We finally have a novel about someone who loves themselves, respects themselves! And they don't perpetuate dangerous stereotypes.
I L-O-V-E Crystal! She was phenomenal. As a MC she had depth and personality. Which may seem like the bear minimum, but reading some other novels with plus/mid-size MC's this is a big thing! Crystal loved working out, not to lose weight, but to be strong. This is such a big distinction, that has taken me personally years to finally accept. I loved the authors note that the beginning.
"Crystal isn't a heroine who needs to learn to love and respect herself, because she already does. That being said, this book explored the nuance - the "in-between" - that self-love is not a tangible thing you achieve and hold on to forever."
❤️❤️
I am so excited to see what else this author has to write. This was such a strong debut.
