Wow, this one blew me away! I knew it was going to be a good one when I saw the description mentioned a mix of Bridget Jones Diary and Pride and Prejudice. There is something so charming about a grumpy, cynical person falling in love with a fierce, fun, and independent person 🥰🥰 And holy, trope alert!!! Enemies to lovers annnnnd opposites attract (grumpy/sunshine)!
The story is centered on Darcy and Elle. Darcy is a reserved Actuary who is focused on passing her final exam and is not looking for a relationship. Elle is bubbly and outgoing and runs an astrology company that focuses on helping people find compatibly based on their star chart. She believes in soulmates and desperately wants to find her own. After being set up on a blind date by Darcy’s brother and Elle’s new colleague, they found out very quickly that they are not compatible. Darcy doesn’t believe in Elle’s work and Elle doesn’t like Darcy’s judgmental attitude. HOWEVER, they decide to lie to their friends and family and say that they are dating to get everyone off their backs for a couple of months.
I’m sure you see where this is going… they fall in love instead!
This story was so adorable and perfectly paced and I fell in love with everyone. Like Darcy’s namesake, you quickly realize her hard shell is protecting her goofy, compassionate soul and is fiercely loyal. Elle may have trouble nailing down a relationship, but she knows her worth and will not settle. Together they make up such a cute and strong pair!
This book is everything you want in a contemporary romance—it’s fun, it’s humorous, it has its more serious matters, it has some spice, it has vibrant characters. I cannot wait to read more from Alexandria Bellefleur!!
