The First to Die at the End
by Adam Silvera
Why am I willing to give myself another heartbreak? I know how it's going to end, but I'm still dying to know.
Similar to the previous book, this is a prequel to "they both die at the end" and it was written from multiple POVs. We mainly follow the two main characters Valentino and Orion as they spend their time making memories during Valentino's End Day.
In this prequel, we get to see Death Cast system newly introduced into the world and the start or inspiration of what helps Orion's found sister to develop an app called Last Friend (for Deckers to find a new friend of value to spend their final hours with today).
We also get a glimpse of little Mateo and Rufus and some backstory of their parents. It was interesting. I might want to reread "They both die at the end" one more time.
Other than the things that I enjoyed, the plot is also almost the same as "They both die at the end". But I don't mind it at all.
QUOTES THAT I LIKE:
"Life doesn't care how young you are. It forces you to grow up anyway."
"It's hard to live when it feels like death is lurking around every corner."
"Life moves fast when you stop waiting around for what you want. When you go for it."
"Goodbyes are the most possible impossible because you never want to say them, but you'd be stupid not to when given the chance."
