Me at Target: I’ll buy the book I’ve been seeing everywhere on TikTok! What a great cover, and it’s a special edition!

Months later, looking for a brain candy book, I picked this up from one of my many stacks. If you’re going into the book, you know what you’re in for, let’s not pretend. It’s exactly what the title suggests. The sex scenes get a little repetitive but are more well-written than most, with no cringy purple prose. The world building is intriguing. I’ll definitely be continuing with this series!

Content warnings: rape (off-page), one sex scene of dubious consent, suicide by nature (freezing), body horror (worm burrowing into neck). In the author’s note at the end, Ruby says that for the special edition, she decided to remove an on-page rape scene from the beginning of the book, as she concluded it did not belong. I appreciate this decision.
