Reviving Izabel by J.A. Redmerski
5.0

Honestly this shouldn’t be a surprise that I gave this such a high rating. The first book blew me away, and is up there as one of my favorite books ever. I was apprehensive going into this because I’m always afraid that the sequel can never measure to the original but I was so pleased that this wasn’t the case.

Much like the first book, Reviving Isabel starts with a bang and literally never stops with the action. I swear JA Redmerski has such an incredible pacing throughout the last two books because these books do not drag. We’re always in the middle of a crucial moment, and very little filler is ever given. And when there isn’t action , we’re receding back stories on characters that are presented to us in an interesting way. Instead of Sarai telling us through her POV the expository dialogue she received from another character, we have people actually TALKING. It’s not someone giving us a history lesson, but we learn about the order while Victor is in the middle of fleeing from his enemies. We also get some back story on Frederick who I didn’t expect to become as important to me as he did. I understand that his book is next and I’m so excited.

What I mostly love about this book, is that doesn’t fall victim for romance novel cliches. There were so many opportunities for Victor and Sarai to make up excuses of why they shouldn’t be together and I was waiting for one of them to push the other away. But this book is a clear divergence from those annoying tropes we get in books like this and for that I’m so thankful. Also, these two keep me on my toes and genuinely have me rooting for them. The nature of their relationship is so complicated at first but you learned to accept whatever it is with them. They are two extremely damaged individuals who shouldn’t have the capacity to love but find themselves doing so anyway.

Yeah so pretty much this is the best romantic suspense series I’ve ever read and I’d recommend it to anyone really. The characters are so charismatic that it’s impossible not to be entranced by them. Also, Izabel’s last chapter at the end was so touching. Ugh this book brings out so many emotions, like I’d really die for all them.
