dannireadsallthetime 's review for:
The Lord of the Rings
by J.R.R. Tolkien
I had been warned before reading this it is a very long and tedious read, but I wanted to read these 3 books to say that I have read them.
I know that Lotr is very popular and I'm still a small time fan, the reviews on here are against me, but my god I thought I was going to bleed from my eyes and die. I think it took me almost a year to read these, the anxiety to pick these books up stressed me out so much and it was so much hard work.
With the first book, I stuck to it and read every word religiously and same with half way through the second book, then I started to skim read because I just couldn't take in much more bloody scenery. Don't get me wrong I do like description in books, creates a nice imagine for me in my minds eye but then there is overkill and it was killing me
From what I remember, not much was ever going on, they were just walking and walking and walking and walking and walking and then some more walking.
Then in the third book right at the end that is where the magic happens and I enjoyed the ending.
I mean it just wasn't for me, it honestly pained me reading this and I commend those who actually loved it, who knows I might try again one day and see if I was wrong the first time.
