i was definitely a little disappointed in this book for a few reasons. 1, the kidnapper’s “plot to save humanity” isn’t entirely clear. whatever’s going on with jon isn’t clear. we don’t know the what or the why, only speculation as jon tries to come to terms with himself.

over 15 years of life, chloe and jon do not ever stop obsessing over each other. it became same-y very fast - the chloe chapters were about jon, and the jon chapters were about chloe.

i loved eggs as a character, despite his obsession with the case and his willingness to sacrifice his partnership with his wife for it. still, he was the character with the strongest story and development, and i definitely enjoyed reading his chapters the most.

i finished the book, but overall i can’t say i would recommend it. it became repetitive fast and the plot moved veeeeery slowly.
