The story itself is nothing special. It is your typical society stuff, but with really few characters. At some point though the book starts to resemble some kind of gothic mystery. I really didn’t enjoy that part. It was very jarring. Luckily didn’t last very long.
However, what I absolutely loved is the language in all its aspects. I just find it delightful. It is also so interesting to observe how so many words and expressions are used differently now.
Austin’s satire of society is also fun. The book has an overall light hearted tone.
I had a good time.
