Tiny creatures live at the edge of a forest where a horrible thing has happened. Can they thrive, or does the fact of the act foretell their doom? Told through a series of connected vignettes.
This story is dark, violent—both passively and actively—creepy AF, and everyone in it is pretty awful. I know it is an allegory for something (greed?), but I didn’t enjoy reading it much. Parts reminded me of Thumbelina. I hate Thumbelina. In the book’s defense, it’s a reference I should’ve gleaned from the cover, so this one’s on me.
It is beautifully drawn.
