This is my 3rd attempt at this book, and now I was able to finish it and I absolutely love it.
At my first attempt (audiobook), I just stopped listening almost halfway, without any specific reason, just life taking over my time differently.
At my second attempt (book), I couldn’t really get into the drama, plus reading while waiting for 8 hours in an airport terminal isn’t really the most inspiring environment for reading.
Now on my 3rd attempt (audiobook), I fell in love. Although the English is not easy for me as my mother tongue is not English (and I have no idea what Joseph says), I loved the passion between Catherine and Heathcliff, the effect that and all the family dynamics have on every character and generations, the atmosphere and even more I don’t know how to express. What also helped me in my appreciation, is to read annotations alongside, to better grasp and appreciate the complexity and craftmanship of the novel.
I will definitely reread this in book format.
