Crónica de Una Muerte Anunciada by Gabriel García Márquez

5.0

I was initially hesitant about reading Crónica de una Muerte Anunciada because I have DNF’d One Hundred Years of Solitude twice. I am so glad I read it anyway; it has been a long time since a book gets under my skin. It is short but has so many layers; it examines “purity”, “honor”, machismo culture, otherness, and the shallowness of religion. I would suggest a thorough reading to better appreciate the prose and language Marquez uses so beautifully to lay bare the guilt of an entire village.
