Queen of Swords by Sara Donati
3.0
My least favorite of the series for a few reasons: war - unh - what is it good for? Absolutely nothin. And this book focuses a lot of the War of 1812. I thought that the parts of the story in New Orleans were very interesting and compelling - when they focused on the Bonners and Savards. Unfortunately we get a lot of unnecessary chapters from Kit Wyndam and Honore Poiterin which I pretty much just skipped altogether. Also, just too long in general (which also happens in the Outlander books).
This book is strong in two ways: its continuation of the Bonner family saga, and its exploration of America in all its white supremacist & colonial ugliness. I am so happy to finally return to Lake in the Clouds next time, though, and just hope it lives up to my expectations!
