Darling Venom by Parker S. Huntington

I feel like this book will be a book that sticks with me for a long time.

It also felt like a character study in several ways. I feel like Kellan was a deeply flawed individual sort of frozen forever in the mindset & idolization that Charlie had of him at 18. As she gets close to Tate, she learns that her viewpoint of Kellan was incredibly biased and lacking the experience of who Kellan would've become had he had the change to grow up like she did. But in her mind, Kellan at 17 is forever going to be Kellan to her because of this. As she's aged and grown, she's gained the logic and understanding to be like "dang my best friend was lost as hell and there wasn't anything that I, as a child myself, could've done."

On the other hand, Tate is stuck on "dang my little brother was lost as hell and I, as an adult, did nothing to help" when in fact he did ALOT to help, but Kellan - by virtue of the fact that he's an angsty and lost teenager - couldn't see this and unfortunately would never grow up to gain that kind of logic and understanding to look back on the events of his childhood through a different lens like Charlie was able to.

Also also "Losing Kellan taught you his worth. I apologize in advance for what losing me will teach you." CHARLIE IS A QUEEN FOR THAT LINE.
