Don't You Forget About Me by Mhairi McFarlane
4.0
This was great! Georgiana’s honesty and personal growth was refreshing and delightfully REAL. There’s a chapter in the last 10% that could be 5-stars on its own (i almost started banging pots I was clapping so hard to give her a standing O. (so stick with it!) Great audible!
I have no idea how I found this gem. Highly recommend for chicklit (not romance) fans that prefer
Slightly more substance and character development
SUMMARY: 30yo Georgina is fired (unfairly) from her job. She goes to cry on her BFs shoulder and he’s banging someone else. Things can’t get worse, right? After an epic night of drinking her misery away she remembers she was doing a bar tending job, that her @$$ step father arranged.
God forbid she drops the ball. He would make her life hell.
To her surprise, the event and fellow employees are great and she’s thrilled when the owner offers her a job. She can’t believe she’ll finally have a job she likes... !! then the other owner walks in and it’s THE boy from Senior year (HS) who broke her heart, and he doesn’t appear to remember Georgina. (It was one of those romances that they liked each other but hadn’t really acted in it and it looked like it was finally happen but then something happened and they never talked again).
The rest of the book follows Georgina as she “gets her life together” and her interactions with Lucas, and learning about his life the last 12 years. The book also slowly leads up to what happened between them and when it all comes out
