The Choice: Embrace the Possible
by Edith Eva Eger
This memoir was written by an amazing woman (Dr. Edith Eger) who survived the Holocaust, immigrated to the United States, and later in life became a therapist. This book was an extraordinary account of history as well as one of personal survival and healing. Dr. Eger's story of perseverance was so compelling, but equally absorbing was her path toward growth and healing (of both herself and others). In fact, Dr. Eger thrived which resulted in her ability to dispense such incredibly powerful wisdom.
I believe this book probably should be required reading for anyone doing therapeutic and healing work. In addition, I think this book would be extremely worthwhile for anyone who has been through trauma. However, I contend that this read would be beneficial to anyone who simply wants to be inspired or learn ways to address life's challenges.
Dr. Edith Eger focuses a lot on the power of our choices and our ability to free ourselves. Readers gain insights both from Dr. Eger's own personal story but also through several stories related to her patients. There were so many relevant messages in this book. I found myself jotting down notes frequently. I believe others will find this book not only riveting but extremely helpful as well.
