A beautiful book about immigration and the choices that parents make from moment to moment to best protect their children and preserve a dream. I was struck multiple times by the courage and unfathomable nature of the separation of families and the long term consequences. Not only the pain of being forced from loved ones, but also being treated as a criminal. Engel had a beautiful writing sensibility and I'd read more from her.
