2 1/2 stars.
This has a great concept at its center that is so completely trenchant and timely that it feels literally "ripped from the headlines," or really more like ripped from the national subconscious and id. The thing that isn't so great about it is that the plot surrounding it isn't nearly as interesting and intriguing. Plus, it takes FOREVER to get started. The artwork reminded me of Chris Ware (without being as vibrant) but the plotting isn't nearly as compelling as his work. It's unfortunate because the underlying themes here are just devastatingly pertinent to our moment in time and will get you where you live.
