Rick Riordan, you've done it again! I was super excited for House of Hades and getting to see the strong relationship development between Percy and Annabeth, and I was not disappointed. The story was engaging, and removing Percy and Annabeth from the rest of the party allowed the newer characters to develop in a way that wouldn't have been possible if the two OG characters had been there. As always, Riordan characters are my favorite part of the book. They're rich, realistic depictions that you happily root for with zero reservations. The particularly great thing about this book was the numerous call backs to the previous series and/or stories, which you'll love if you're a strong PJO fan.

I will say that some of the plotlines did feel like they came out of nowhere (Frank's transformation, for example, and Jason's decision -- which I will not spoil -- did not feel as consistent with his characterization in The Lost Hero, but does solve a minor plot problem with him and Piper), but overall the issues were ignorable, especially since this is mythology and the occasional Deus ex Machina is to be expected. I'm really excited for the final installment in the series.
