I haven't read a book this fast in over a decade. I felt like I was back in high school reading my first gay John Green or David Levithan, and realizing it's okay to be queer. It was a rush of feeling understood - which I get from all of Casey McQuistons books, but especially this time around as it revolved around southern Baptist themes that made my personal experience in life feel seen. I was worried reading a book about high schoolers when I'm 26 would be weird, but it transported me back to when I was that age and what I felt back then, and made me glad I gave it a chance.
