Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor

4.0

It's been a long time since I've read a Fantasy book, I normally go for horror. But this one just made me want to read a trilogy and also made me feel ashamed I'm 10 years late to the party with this lol.

The characters give off a breath of fresh air for me, they all have their own personality, quirks and pet peeves, hobbies, and fears that don't fade at all. The world-building was fantastic, didn't get old and wasn't over the top, and was kept in a comfortable area. The flow of the story was a rollercoaster that had me on the edge of my seat and sometimes just leaning back having a hot chocolate in the corner of my sofa.

You may be asking me why 4 stars. if I could put it to 4.5 I would. There's just a small section near the end that I wanted to skip just to get back to the main bit. (im trying not to spoil anything). It wasn't terrible to read at all, and it build a lot of lore and made connections to things that we needed to know. It's mainly just because I'm an impatient fool XD
