Overall this was just depressing as all get out. The survival parts weren't even that interesting because this layer of defeat covered everything. The bleak atmosphere made me not care about Jess at all or whether she survived or not.
There's nothing particularly wrong with this book, it's well written and compelling, but it's just really not for me - The Hatchet was much more my style of survival story - BUT FUCK THAT ENDING! I WILL NEVER LIKE A BOOK THAT KILLS OFF A DOG.
