So this was supposed to be a short spicey read while doing a reread of Sarah J Maas in preparation for the new Crescent City release.
I was not prepare for all the feelings.  It is DARK, no question about it. A book which starts with the mmc, torturing and killing, the fmc foster family is never going to be all Disney princesses and stuff.  Is it full of trigger warnings? Yes. Is Roman a huge red flag? Yes.  Did I hate him, also Yes. But omg I loved the book. The smut was perfect. The story was uncomfortable reading at times, I have read worse in dark romances and Thrillers. But the balance was great, enough of a plot to having to read just one more chapter.
If you like dark romances ie Haunting Adelaine, you will enjoy this one.
